This one’s for the CLIF Bar peops. You know all those Cool Tags/wind energy credits we’ve been selling at events (and buying to offset our company CO2 production through NativeEnergy)? Like thousands for the last few years? Well, this is where the money goes – to build wind turbines like this one.
I spent a lot of time at CLIF barking about those so I decided to take a rather large (as it turned out) detour to check it out – on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation outside of Mission, SD right near the border with Nebraska. It powers homes in the area (and, I assume, the nearby casino..) I believe some of our funds went to this one – but most are going to the next one going up in the next town over – St. Francis.
Anyway, it’s a start. Changing the landscape of energy – one turbine at a time. Keep it up, y’all.
P.S. For those keeping tabs on the motorcycle mishaps front, right after taking this badly lit photo (sorry), I dumped the bike again (2nd time on this trip and 4th since I bought the bike!) – this time in the apparently very soft sand I had stupidly parked in here. Thankfully, again, I was going below 1 mph so no damage – except to my pride.. Need to start working out again – where’s the CLIF gym now!? Picking up a 575 lb. bike with ~150 lbs. of gear strapped to it is not easy. No one around to help so I had to start pulling stuff off to get it up. Just a bit more gristle in this otherwise very tasty sandwich of a road trip..
