Hello friends. It’s on. The great ramble is about to begin. The plan: shed any semblance of a mature adult American lifestyle and hit the road for a year. To see as much of the world as possible. And ponder life’s great questions. Until the money runs out.
There will be two legs to this walkabout.
1. July 17 – September 13. Ride my motorcycle and camp across the US for 8 weeks from San Francisco to New York, visiting friends, family, national parks and all of the cities and towns I’ve ever wanted to see along the way. The map below includes the basic route with green circles around most of the places I plan on staying.
2. September 14 – ???. Fly to Lisbon to begin a year+ long circumnavigation of this here planet Earth. Destinations of interest include: Morocco, Nepal, Tibet, India, Bhutan, SE Asia, E Africa, New Zealand.. Too many to hit in a year so I’ll figure it out as I go and buy flights along the way. Here’s a look at the probable route.
The kids tell me these blog things are cool. I’m not the most tech savvy fella in the drawer, but seems like this might be the best way to let y’all take a gander at what I’m up to along the way. So let me know what you think.
For those of you interested in getting updates as I add stuff along the way, you can add an RSS feed from this site (I use iGoogle’s customizable homepage – allows you to add URLs for news updates, blog updates etc) for the latest. I won’t have a computer on the road but seems that you can’t go anywhere these days without running into an internet cafe. I’ll be posting photos (linked to others on my Flickr page) and observations when I can so come on back now, ya’hear?
